§ 2-13-51. Certificates of public convenience and necessity.

  • (a)

    Every person, non-governmental entity, or governmental entity owning or acting as an agent for the owner of any business or service which furnishes, operates, conducts, maintains, advertises, engages in, proposes to engage in, or professes to engage in any of the business or services described in this article shall first obtain a certificate from the county, except for the provision of basic life support non-transport services by a governmental entity.

    (b)

    Providers of ambulance service having no headquarters or other facilities within the county shall be required to obtain a certificate from the county and to otherwise comply with this article if they provided intra-county ambulance service within the county at least twice in any prior twelve-month period.
