§ 2-16-1. Authority to adopt rules and regulations.

The Board of County Commissioners of Manatee County is authorized to adopt reasonable
rules and regulations found to be necessary for the protection of public health, covering
the storage, collection, transportation and disposal of solid waste; to create service
areas for solid waste collection and disposal; to create a unified county solid waste
collection and disposal system; to implement recycling programs for the collection
and disposition of recyclable materials and to expend revenues of the county solid
waste system to effectuate such programs; and to prescribe and collect fees for solid
waste collection and disposal under the authority of Florida Statutes, Section 125.01.
Any person violating any of the provisions of the county's rules or regulations shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished
as otherwise provided by law (Laws of Fla., Ch. 2000-403).
