§ 2-16-62. Billing and deposit for residential and commercial collection services.

  • (a)

    Billing for collection services shall be accomplished by the inclusion of a line item for service charges on the monthly utility bills as prepared by the department, which is hereby established as the billing agency. A separate line will be included for any extraordinary service or special waste collection by appointment service rendered.

    (b)

    A deposit shall be collected by the department from all customers to whom solid waste and/or recyclable materials collection service is provided. Such deposit shall be applied to the payment of delinquent accounts if the customer fails to pay the service charge when due, provided that such deposit shall not constitute liquidated damages and the customer shall remain liable to the county for any deficiency.

    (c)

    A security bond may be accepted in lieu of cash security deposits exceeding the amount established by resolution, as may be amended from time to time.
