§ 2-19-90. Film commissioner.

  • (a)

    There shall be a Manatee County Film Commissioner. The film commissioner shall be the county administrator or his or her designee.

    (b)

    The film commissioner shall have such duties and authority as is set forth in this article, including:

    (1)

    Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the film industry, including financial, technical, and logistical considerations impacting the selection of venues for filming.

    (2)

    Developing and implementing strategies to bring commercial filming activities to the county.

    (3)

    Serve as liaison between the film industry, the Florida Office of Film and Entertainment, and other governmental entities within the county.

    (4)

    Maintain statistics on filming activities within the county, including the economic benefits derived thereby, and make periodic reports and recommendations to the county commission.

    (5)

    Identify, solicit and recruit filming activities and business opportunities for the county.
