§ 2-2-33. Employees of the county attorney's office.

  • Beginning one year from the effective date of this article, all employees of the county attorney's office shall be at-will employees subject to discharge by the county attorney without cause and without entitlement to termination hearings or process. No employee of the county attorney's office shall have a property interest in his or her employment. Beginning on the effective date of this article, the county attorney may devise and implement work rules, evaluation criteria, and hiring, promotion, demotion, discipline, and discharge policies specifically designed for employees of the county attorney's office with due regard for the attorney/client relationship and professional responsibilities of the office and the employees thereof. Except as provided herein, all employees of the county attorney's office shall be entitled to the applicable benefits and prerogatives of county employees, including but not limited to holidays, vacation, sick leave and compensatory time, retirement and pension system contribution, merit and cost of living pay increases, insurance benefits, and working conditions, as those are now or hereafter promulgated in the county's personnel rules.
