§ 2-4-18. Impoundment by the division.

  • (a)

    The division has the authority to pick up, catch, or procure and impound any animal in the county in a manner reasonably necessary to effectuate its capture when it appears abandoned or one or more of the following sections of this ordinance appear to have been violated: 2-4-4, 2-4-7, 2-4-8, 2-4-9, 2-4-10, 2-4-11, 2-4-14, 2-4-15, or 2-4-22.

    (b)

    Every animal, including feral cats, which has been impounded shall be held for redemption for the period of time and/or dispositioned as established by section 2-4-19 of this ordinance and/or the provisions of Chapters 767 and 828, Florida Statutes (2005).

    (c)

    The division has the authority to pick up, catch or procure and impound any animal in the county in a manner reasonably necessary to effectuate its capture that has bitten a human and/or is infected or believed to be infected with rabies or other disease which may be contagious or infectious to humans or animals.
