§ 2-5-23. Purpose; powers.

  • (a)

    The Manatee County Airport Authority as established by this article is authorized to study, examine and report on the feasibility, necessity and economic practicality of the establishment, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of an airport facility within the county, and the airport authority is hereby given all necessary and reasonably related powers required by said authority to achieve these purposes.

    (b)

    The board of county commissioners may by ordinance authorize the Manatee County Airport Authority to establish, construct, finance, operate and maintain an airport facility within the county.

    (c)

    Funding or appropriation for expenditures of the authority in exercising its responsibilities as described herein, including approval of the authority's budget, shall be controlled, authorized and approved during regularly scheduled meetings of the board of county commissioners.
